Weather news for Mauritius issued at 16h30 on Thursday 31 July 2025.

General situation:
1) A heavy swell warning is in force in Mauritius valid till 10h00 on Saturday 02 August 2025. 
2) The strong anticyclone to the South of the Mascarenes is causing a windy and cold weather over our region.

Forecast for the next 24 hours:
Rather cloudy with intermittent rain mainly to the East, South and over the central plateau.
Fog patches are also expected in certain places. 

The minimum temperature will vary between 14 and 16 degrees Celsius over the highgrounds and between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius along the coasts tonight. 

The maximum temperature will be slightly below the mean and will vary between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius over the central plateau and between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius over the coastal regions.

Wind will blow from the South-East from 25 to 35 km/h with gusts that may reach 75 km/h in some regions.
The public is advised to be cautious during manoeuvres on tall structures and on the roads due to crosswinds.

The open sea will remain very rough with swells and the wave height will be of the order of 4 metres.
The waves may break along the low-lying coastal areas especially during high tides to the West and South.
Fishermen, pleasure-craft users and the public are strongly advised not to go out at sea and to avoid the beaches.
