General situation:

1)Heavy Rain Watch for Mauritius issued at 06h30 this Sunday 29 December 2024, valid till Monday 30 December 2024 at 1000 hours.

2)Clouds associated to an instability line coming from the Eastern sector will influence the local weather today.
3)At the same time, the atmospheric conditions over our region are gradually becoming moist and unstable.

Forecast for the next 24 hours:

Cloudy periods with showers mainly over the eastern half of the island, to the North and over the Central plateau this morning.
In the afternoon, other clouds will develop over the island and will cause localised showers, especially to the West, South-West and over the central plateau.
These showers will be moderate at times with thunderstorms.

The maximum temperature will vary between 25 and 28 degrees Celsius over the central plateau and between 30 and 33 degrees Celsius along the coasts.

These showers will become less frequent in the evening.
Partly cloudy with occasionnal showers mainly over the highgrounds late tonight.

The minimum temperature will vary between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius over the central plateau and between 24 and 26 degrees Celsius over the coastal regions.

Wind from the North-East sector at around 15 km/h, strengthening temporarily with gusts in showers.

Sea moderate beyond the reefs with waves of the order of 2 metres.

In case of thunderstorms, the public is advised to remain in safe places and avoid open areas, hikings, sea ventures and sheltering under trees.
