Weather news for Mauritius issued at 16h45 on Tuesday 03 February 2026.

 

General situation:

1. A heavy rain watch remains in force in Mauritius and will be valid till 16h00 tomorrow.

2. Active clouds in the circulation of FYTIA are still evolving in the vicinity of the island and will continue to influence the local weather.

 

Forecast for the next 24 hours:

Scattered showers are expected mainly to the North, East and over the Central Plateau.

The showers could be moderate to temporarily heavy with thunderstorms.

Water accumulations are likely in flood prone areas.

Fog patches are expected in some regions.

 

The minimum temperature will be between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius over the central plateau and between 24 and 26 degrees Celsius along the coasts.

Tomorrow, the maximum temperature will be between 25 and 27 degrees Celsius over the central plateau and between 29 and 32 degrees Celsius over the coastal regions.

 

The wind will blow from the Northern sector at about 20 km/h with gusts in showers.

 

Sea moderate beyond the reefs, becoming gradually rough tomorrow morning with Southwesterly swells of the order of 2 metres 50.

Ventures in the open sea are not advised as from tomorrow morning.

 

The public is advised to:

1. remain in safe places and avoid open areas, hikings, sea ventures and sheltering under trees during thundery showers.

2. avoid places prone to water accumulation.

3. be very cautious on the roads due to reduced visibility resulting from heavy rains and fog patches.

 

Supplementary information:

During the last hours, FYTIA has weakened into a moderate tropical storm. At 16h00, it was centred near 23.8 degrees South in latitude and 54.5 degrees East in longitude and is moving towards the Southeast at about 10 km/h
